Last week I posted on Instagram giving you guys the chance to ask me whatever you want, and I was overwhelmed by the response. Unfortunately, I won't be able to answer all the questions, but I've tried my best to answer the most popular ones! I'm super excited to release my first ever Q&A, and I hope it helps all of you in some way or the other.
Ps I am not a pro blogger, but I've spent enough time in the field to be able to help out the beginners!
So lets get right into it :D
So lets get right into it :D
Q. How old are you?
A. I'm 23.
Q. What did you do before blogging?
A. I was a Virtual Personal Stylist and Visual Merchandiser.
Q. Do you have a job outside of Blogging? If yes, what?
A. I am a freelance Social Media Marketer and Fashion Stylist.
Q. What is your Makeup Routine?
A. I usually do a thick base because I have acne scars and blemishes. Also, I absolutely love contouring and highlighting on a regular basis.
Since the base is heavy, I tend to keep my lips and eyes neutral, usually using just mascara and lip balm, but brows are a must for me! Sometimes, I also like to do a winged eyeliner.
Q. Which Eyeliner & Mascara do you use?
A. Currently I am using Bobbi Brown's Eye Opening Mascara and Essence's Liquid Ink Eyeliner.
Q. What's your haircut and hair color?
A. I just get my hair cut blunt shoulder-level.
My hair color was actually an accident. I wanted to get Rose Gold hair, but it turned out to be disaster. Agitated, I started coloring my so-called Rose Gold hair Black at home. When the black hair color starts washing out, I get highlights- and they tend to look good. LOL.
Q. Where do you generally shop your outfits from? Suggest some affordable brands/ e-stores.
A. I don't shop much, because I keep receiving products from brands. But if I have to, its usually for basics and I really trust H&M, Forever 21 and Zara for that. Apart from that, I absolutely love shopping from Romwe and Koovs. All of these brands are really affordable, and who doesn't like a good deal?!
Q. How do you edit your pictures?
A. I use 3-4 editing apps for each picture. First, I use Snapseed to do the basic editing- Crop, Contrast, Brighten, etc. and to desaturate the background. Then, I use Airbrush to blur out skin imperfections. Finally, I use VSCO to add the final filter. If required, I use Makeup Plus to fix my eyebrows.
Q. How do you maintain your Instagram theme?
A. I take my photos against the same type of backgrounds, and edit them in the same kind of style- for example, desaturating the background in every picture, adding the same filter to each photo, etc. I don't have the best Instagram Feed, but I'm slowly getting there.
Maintaining an Instagram theme can be a really compromising task, as sometimes you really wanna take a picture against a pink wall art or inside a vintage cafe, but you have to stop yourself because it doesn't match your Instagram's aesthetics. Also, it tends to put a limit to your shoot location options.
Q. How to grow as a blogger?
A. First things first, ask yourself if you really want to be a Blogger or just lured by the glamour or freebies, because Blogging is a full-time job and usually more hectic than a 9 to 5 job. Ofcourse it has its perks, but it also takes much more than taking pictures and Instagramming them if you're really looking at it as a career.
Growth won't happen overnight, it will take hard work, consistency and patience. The key is to keep yourself motivated, create genuine good quality content and post consistently, and everything else will follow.
Never buy followers in order to speed up the growth, it won't take you far.
Q. How to work with brands?
A. Firstly, invest in creating quality content and focus on building a small audience for your blog. Chances are that you'll start getting brand collaboration requests automatically. Also, there's nothing wrong with approaching brands by yourself. You could DM them on Instagram or Facebook, or shoot them a mail mentioning your blog's details and why you'd like to work with them.
Q. As a fresh blogger, its demotivating to see anyone and everyone getting into it blogging. What keeps you going?
A. This is something that affected me for a very long time. As a newbie, I thought of quitting blogging many a times because I would see even the non- deserving people getting equal (or more) opportunities as I was, and it was becoming more and more difficult to be seen and to grow.
But what I learned over the past year is that ignoring all of that and just focusing on constantly upgrading yourself really helps! If you are creating good content and giving your best consistently, you'll stand out, no matter what. You just have to keep going.
Q. What does it take to engage your audience?
A. I don't think I have a really good engagement rate, but through experience I have learnt that you have to really interact with your audience through your posts to enagage them.
Let me know if this helped you in the comments below. If you have more questions, ping me and I will answer them in my next Q&A. See you super soon!
